That means that I should probably expect the price to double every 4 years and do my 5 year TCO calculations based on that. And I should actually plan on prices increasing at aggressive rates. What this thread has shown me is that consumers are not ready to pressure vendors to make pricing predictable. As a market reaches saturation the sweet spot for maximum profit flattens out and moves. There is an invisible curve of maximum profit. Pricing follows a curve where at a higher price fewer people will buy, but you make more per customer. In fact that is the best way to extract maximum value. My nightmare is that "Future Stakeholders" will see this money I and my customers have invested and start taxing us on it because it's cheaper to pay a higher price than to change. This is true for both subscription and perpetual licenses in many categories.

The biggest cost is not the software but the cost of training and implementation. I do have flexibility to offer free accounts to SpiceWorks users.

I don't foresee any pricing changes for Keeper Enterprise Password Management but I don't think anyone is able to make that guarantee unless you are committing to a 5 year subscription and paying upfront. There are too many unpredictable variables - things like the economy, market conditions, company stakeholders, company direction, competitive pricing, supply/demand, laws and regulations, acquisitions, etc. It's tough for any vendor to guarantee pricing for 5 years, especially in security because let's face it - it's a hot industry that is rapidly changing.

I plan on paying for any security related products I use and expecting that those companies treat my security in a professional manner because they are getting paid to do so. One problem I have with the free options is the lack of fiduciary responsibility. I don't see where any of the other options, save KeePass, make any solid commitments to only raise prices in line with inflation or no more than 10% per year. Most of these replies don't address my core concern that future pricing is unpredictable. Happy to answer any questions you might have! LastPass is now free to sync across all your devices, so we hope you might continue with LastPass! And we will of course honor any purchases made, if you do continue with LastPass Premium and wish to pre-purchase more than one year. Still debating on whether to fork over the cash to keep the passwords syncing between machines or to seek another alternate method. I'm coming up for renewal in less than 2 weeks and have been using LastPass concurrently with Dashlane. that it doesn't always sense when a webpage is asking for credentials (both Mac and Win). It doesn't seem to work as reliable as I would like on my MacBook.and 2. Mjmitchell83, KeePass is missing several features I have found in the commercial programs. I had to go into the Adobe account and download and print the invoice to prove I was not embezzling $49 a month. I had a customer hold a $25,000 payment to me because Crashplan and Adobe were charging their credit card and they couldn't reconcile it.

I have not found out how to control the autogenerated passwords to be compatible with websites that don't like them or make one that I can type when needed.Īnd, one of my pet peeves is that DashLane will not email the invoice each year at renewal. It has also crashed a couple of times on my Mac. I have discovered that DashLane only shares one password at a time.

It's cheaper to install a VPN than add another seat. I too use ScreenConnect but now I can't buy any more seats. They recently were bought out and hiked their price by more than 5 fold. ScreenConnect is another good example of bizarre price hikes.
